Trident Microsystems chooses Serus solutions for inventory visibility and key B2B collaboration processes across the outsource supplier network.

Trident is planning to implement two solutions in 2011 - Oracle ERP and Serus Supplier Visibility and Collaboration.

SUNNYVALE, CALIF.—Oct 20, 2010This victory is especially significant as Serus went head to head with the best software companies in the industry – SAP/Bristlecone, Oracle/Trinity, Kinaxis, JDA, Adexa, and E2Open - and managed to get its message heard loud and clear, proving once again that Serus solutions are fast becoming the clear choice for scalable solutions that provide companies with seamless integration, to their manufacturing partners and suppliers for improved inventory visibility and control.

About Trident MicrosystemsTrident Microsystems, Inc. is a $600M company that designs, develops and markets integrated circuits for digital media applications, such as digital television and liquid crystal display (LCD). In February 2010, the Company acquired NXP Semiconductor's television systems and set-top box business lines. Trident is planning to implement two solutions in 2011 - Oracle ERP and Serus Supplier Visibility and Collaboration. Trident will be using Serus to perform the following functions:

Serus Supplier Visibility The Supplier Visibility module provides tracking of lot level inventory at individual manufacturing partners and in transit between partner locations in the Customer’s supply chain. At any time the Software will identify exceptions to inventory transactions that violate rules defined during implementation and configuration of Software.

Serus Inventory Valuation Serus Inventory Valuation is an integrated workflow module that is integrated into the Supplier Visibility module to ensure that inventory systems of record across the enterprise are updated with inventory transactions as they occur in the extended supplier eco-system. The Serus Inventory Valuation module will be configured with inventory valuation points in Customer’s network at each of the manufacturing partner locations. The Software will automatically detect supplier transactions that impact inventory values and updates ERP systems with GR/GI transactions to ensure the General Ledger and inventory systems of record are always up to date. Software will perform daily reconciliation of inventory transactions across all manufacturing partners to detect any issues and helps reconcile problems and data issues.

Serus Auto PO Serus Auto PO is an integrated workflow module that is integrated into the Supplier Visibility module to automate transactions associated with PO based execution by outsourced manufacturing partners. Serus Auto PO workflows will be configured and implemented to automate the process of creating PO Release(s) in ERP against blanket Purchase Orders and the communication of the new PO Releases to Suppliers for scheduling. Auto PO will be configured to track execution against PO schedule and quantity acknowledgements, commitments from manufacturing partners on out dates, yield variance, purchase price variances, PO Line Item updates to ERP systems for Blanket POs against supplier receipts, and the integrated workflow with ERP for paperless invoice processing based on supplier performance against individual PO line items. Serus Auto PO will track execution against blanket Purchase Orders or individual lot based POs through Supplier Visibility module.

Serus Master Data Integration ERP will be the System of Record for Parts and BOM data. Serus will be extracting Parts and BOM related data from ERP and update Serus using master data loaders.

Serus Master Data Collaboration with Suppliers Serus will implement Master Data Collaboration with Suppliers through generation of Manufacturing Specification data in PDF or Serus Standard Master Data Export format and exporting the data to Suppliers for loading into their Shop Floor Tracking System. This will also include the acknowledgement step from the suppliers that the data was successfully loaded at their end.

ERP Integration Serus will update ERP Shop Floor Management with lot updates processed by the Supplier Visibility module through Serus’ ERP Adapter. Serus will be updating ERP Purchase Order Line Items by posting PO Receipts triggered by lot movements crossing pay points through Serus’ ERP Adapter. Serus will also be processing electronic Invoices sent by Suppliers and posting in ERP through Serus’ ERP Adapter.

Why Serus? It is important to note why Trident Microsystems chose Serus to provide Supplier Visibility and Collaboration. Trident realized that this capability is extremely critical to the success of the overall ERP implementation. Trident’s decision criteria was based on the following factors:

Standard Product as Opposed to a Customized Implementation Serus’ B2B functionality is the backbone of Serus entire offering. This capability continues to be refined and improved with each deployment. Trident realized that all other approaches would leave them with a custom implementation that would eventually require expensive modifications and eventually become out of date.

Complete Product Offering as Opposed to a Point Solution Serus’ B2B offering has multiple layers as demonstrated by the 5 extensions that Trident chose to enhance their B2B connections. This level of capability would have cost significantly more if it were to be developed as a Point Solution and with no guarantee that it would meet the final specification.

Existing Supplier Relationships Serus has relationships with over 80 suppliers not including multiple sites per supplier. These relationship provided Serus with a significant advantage in the deployment timeline.

Subscription Pricing Model (Lifetime Connection Guarantee) Serus subscription pricing model is a low cost and flexible way of managing suppler on and off boarding process. Serus warrants a supplier connection for life, whereby if an existing supplier modifies their connection points, Serus will make the necessary changes at no cost.
